Flash CT of the paediatric thorax: radiation dose audit of default scan protocols

Abstract
As the first step towards optimization, a radiation dose audit has been conducted of the default Flash CT thorax paediatric scan protocols on the Definition Flash, and the user-adapted CT thorax paediatric scan protocols on the Sensation 64. Results indicate that several user-adapted scan protocols can deliver better dose optimisation than one or two default scan protocols that rely on tube current modulation to tailor mAs to patient size.
